DuraFlex Chimney Inspection in Fort Worth: What to Know First
DuraFlex chimney inspection in Fort Worth typically takes 60 to 90 minutes on site, and an honest service call with a camera inspection runs between $249 and $399 depending on access, height, and what we find once we’re looking. We’re an independent DuraFlex service provider – not affiliated with the manufacturer – and we’ll tell you straight whether your liner is safe, repairable, or needs replacing, with photos you can see before you commit to anything. This page is for Fort Worth homeowners who own a DuraFlex chimney liner or are considering one, and who want an inspection that doesn’t gloss over the details. Call (682) 382-9934 and a real person answers, day or night.

How DuraFlex Products Fail – and How We Fix Them
Danny Cortes has inspected DuraFlex liners across Fort Worth for the better part of two decades, and certain patterns repeat themselves. If you live in an older bungalow near Fairmount or a newer build in the northern suburbs, your DuraFlex liner will age differently based on how you use it. Here are the failure modes we see most often and what we actually do about them:
- DuraFlex 316L stainless liners – pitting at the seam welds. The 316L series is common in Fort Worth wood-burning fireplaces. Over time, the corrugated seams that give the liner its flexibility become the first place creosote or moisture eats through. We see this most often in homes that burn unseasoned oak. The fix starts with a camera inspection, then we recommend either a targeted section repair or a full liner replacement. Nobody should be told to replace a liner without seeing the inside of it first.
- DuraFlex AL29-4C liners – condensation corrosion on gas appliances. This ferritic stainless line is built for high-efficiency gas furnaces and water heaters, and it doesn’t tolerate flue gas condensation as well as the marketing suggests when the appliance is oversized or short-cycling. The symptom is a rust-colored stain at the liner base or a faint acidic smell near the vent. Our inspection checks condensation drainage, termination cap condition, and the liner’s inner wall integrity. A camera passes through where your eyes can’t.
- DuraFlex SW series (smooth wall) – mortar joint mismatch at the connection. The SW line is smooth on the outside and corrugated inside, and where it meets the clay tile or the tee body at the base, we see installation gaps that never got sealed properly. In Fort Worth’s wet spring seasons, that gap lets water in and creates efflorescence on the surrounding brick. Our fix is a proper silicone-and-clamp reseal using the correct diameter. Off-the-shelf caulk doesn’t hold against flue temperatures – we use what the manufacturer’s spec actually calls for.
- DuraFlex insulation wraps – compression at bends breaks the R-value. Many Fort Worth homes route a liner through an offset or around a smoke shelf, and the wrap insulation compresses at those bends. The result is cold flue gas, more creosote, and a liner that cools faster than it should. Our camera inspection verifies whether the insulation is intact at the trickiest angles, because that’s the weak point nobody checks from the roof.
- DuraFlex rain caps and termination kits – rust-through at the spark arrestor mesh. The mesh screen on DuraFlex termination caps collects creosote and water like a filter, and in a Fort Worth summer, that’s a fast path to rust. The symptom is a cap that looks fine from the ground but has a brittle, disintegrating screen up close. We replace with either OEM DuraFlex caps or a quality aftermarket equivalent, and we’ll tell you which one makes sense for the age of the liner below it.

Our DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Process
Inspection isn’t a quick peek with a flashlight. Here’s how a Kindling Chimney Fort Worth DuraFlex inspection actually works when you call:
- 1
You call. A live person picks up. We ask about your fireplace or appliance, the liner age if you know it, and when you last had service. Then we book a window that works for your family’s schedule.
- 2
We arrive and protect the home first. Shoe covers on, drop cloths down before the tool bag opens. We don’t move furniture without asking.
- 3
We talk about what we’ll check. Danny or one of our techs walks through the inspection scope: liner condition, connection points, termination cap, masonry, and where a DuraFlex-specific weak spot might hide. You know what we’re looking at before the camera goes in.
- 4
The camera inspection happens. We run the scope from the firebox up to the termination, looking at seams, welds, insulation condition, and any creosote stage that’s building. You see the screen live. No guesses.
- 5
Parts decision, in plain English. If we find a problem, we explain it, show the photo, and give you the written price to fix it – OEM DuraFlex part or aftermarket equivalent, with our reasoning. Nothing gets fixed until you say so.
- 6
Cleanup and the photo proof. We leave the firebox and floor at least as clean as we found them, and we take a photo of the cleanup before we walk out. Every DuraFlex inspection carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If it’s not right, we make it right.

AfterWhat DuraFlex Chimney Inspection Costs in Fort Worth
Here’s a straight answer, because you shouldn’t have to call three companies to get one.
- Level 1 inspection (no visible changes to the fireplace or liner): $129 – $179
- Level 2 inspection with camera (what most DuraFlex homeowners eventually need): $249 – $329
- Level 2 inspection plus liner-specific camera pass with written photo report: $329 – $399
- Level 3 inspection (when a structural issue is suspected and scaffolding or partial tear-out is needed): quoted after the Level 2 findings, always in writing before work
What moves the price: roof access difficulty, chimney height on a steep roof line, a termination cap that won’t come off without replacement, or a firebox that’s been heavily used and needs a longer camera session. We give a written price before any inspection begins, and a free estimate is a phone call away at (682) 382-9934.
Why Fort Worth Homeowners Call Kindling Chimney Fort Worth for DuraFlex Work
We work to a written care promise on every visit – the Cedarwell Care Promise – which means the price is written down before work starts, shoe covers and drop cloths go down on arrival, and a photo of the cleanup is part of the job. Not an upsell, not an add-on. Danny Cortes and his crew know DuraFlex because they’ve spent years inside Fort Worth fireplaces, from older homes in the Fairmount Historic District to new construction on the outskirts, and they know how each style of home treats its liner. When a DuraFlex fix isn’t the right call, we stock and install professional-grade materials from HeatShield, Gelco, and other trusted brands too. We’re honest about what can wait and what can’t. Every inspection is backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise and performed by background-checked, uniformed technicians who follow the C.A.R.E. values on every visit.
FAQs
No. A camera inspection is non-invasive. We don’t drill, pull, or modify anything during an inspection. What can void a DuraFlex warranty is an improper repair – wrong diameter parts, mismatched connectors, or non-compliant installation. That’s the precise reason you want a technician who knows which DuraFlex series you have and which parts are actually acceptable.
Yes. We order directly through our supply channels and can source genuine DuraFlex components for most current 316L, AL29-4C, and SW series liners. For discontinued sizes or older terminations, we’ll tell you upfront that an OEM part is no longer available and give you the aftermarket option with clear reasoning. You’ll always know which you’re paying for.
It depends on the damage location and liner age. A pitted seam in one section can often be repaired with a proper section replacement. Corrosion spread across multiple bands or a liner that’s lost its structural rigidity at the connection points usually means full replacement. We show you the camera footage and give you both options in writing when repair is viable – we don’t manufacture urgency.
Most inspections can be scheduled within a few days, and a live person answers the phone 24/7 to book you. If you’re buying or selling a home and need a real estate inspection with a chimney report, tell us when you call and we’ll prioritize the window accordingly. Call (682) 382-9934.
You don’t know what’s happening at the seams, the insulation wrap, or the termination cap until it becomes visible from the outside. By then, the fix is usually larger. A skipped inspection won’t burn your house down tomorrow – but it does let a small seam issue become a liner replacement. Schedule one when you notice a change in drafting, a smell, a stain, or when it’s been a few seasons. It’s cheaper than guessing.
